In celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8th, Santini is offering two new sustainable products for washing technical cycling apparel: the biodegradable Power Clean Sport detergent and Guppyfriend special laundry bags for washing machines, which trap microplastics that are released from garments when washed.

Power Clean SportTo wash sports garments in a more sustainable way and create a specific detergent solution, Santini has worked with Surfchimica, a company that develops laundry products with a focus on environmental sustainability.

The result is Power Clean Sport, a biodegradable detergent made without dyes and phosphates that is claimed to provide sustainable washing as well as ensuring that garments are kept in an optimal state.

With a retail price of €12, Power Clean Sport is nickel and phosphates free and contains no skin irritants. It is a hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested eco-friendly detergent.

Guppyfriend washing bagsSince sports garments are made of synthetic fabrics, when they are washed, they lose microplastic particles that end up in wastewater. These microparticles enter the sea, where they can be eaten by marine animals and fishes.

A solution to this problem is offered by Guppyfriend washing bags, which Santini will sell on its website along with Power Clean Sport detergent.

Guppyfriend special textile weave bags, inside which garments will be placed during washing, claims to reduce fibre breakage, protects garments, and retains plastic fibres. These are caught in the bag and can later be disposed of via household waste.

Guppyfriend bags will be on sale at a suggested retail price of €30 euros from June 8th.
